Sod pallets cover 400 square feet (20'x20' area). There are 150 pieces on each pallet.

What are the dimensions of a sod pallet? A piece?

A pallet of sod is 4 ft. x 4 ft. A sod piece is 16 in. x 24 in. and a total of 2.67 sq. ft per piece.

How much does a pallet of sod weigh?

Depending on the type of grass, the soil type, a pallet of grass is usually around 2800-3000 pounds, but they can weigh significantly more in the rainy season. The wetter it is, the heavier it will be.

What services do you provide?

Our current services include: turf removal and dumping, top soil delivery and spreading, sod delivery, sod installation, rolling, sod stapling, free estimates and consultations. We do not provide grading and leveling services.

Do you grow your own sod?

Agriscape grows its own Bahia grass.

There was a time when Agriscape grew and harvested more sod types, but we soon realized that it is more beneficial to build relationships with local sod farms and choose the best sod available.

This is how we're able to offer the highest quality sod on the market. Agriscape's owner, Randy, regularly visits sod farms and evaluates the quality of sod to ensure we are choosing the best for our customers. By leaving the burden of farming to the farmers, we had the opportunity to fine tune our systems and practices as installers. There are sod farms that offer installation services--they are limited to using their own sod supply...and their expertise is not installation. The best sod  on the market with expert workmanship is our goal. Every business decision is based on that goal.

Do you guarantee the sod?

We do guarantee the sod will arrive fresh cut from the farm. There is no guarantee or warranty expressed or implied for ongoing survival of sod for conditions beyond our control.

Which grass is best for my yard?

All turf grasses are grown on full-sun farms. All grass types will perform well in full sun if adequately irrigated, treated, and  maintained  well.
Since turfgrass is a plant, at least four hours of direct sunlight is required for survival. However there are a few types of grass that are more tolerant to shade.

St. Augustine: Provista, Bitterblue, Seville, and Citrablue

Zoysia: Icon Zoysia

Bermuda: Bimini

If an area is too shady for even weeds to thrive, then we do not recommend using sod. Consider an alternative ground cover like mulch or rocks in areas that do not receive any sunlight. All sod types need a minimum of 4-6 hours of sunlight.

Bahia grass is a low-maintenance grass that grows well with very little water and fertilizer. Bahia is the only option for sites that do not have an irrigation system. its also ideal for large lots, acreage, and erosion control. Bahia is pasture grass and grows on its own. However it can have ants, weeds, and appear brown and hay-like.

Agriscape provides free, no-pressure consultations. Someone can visit your site and give you recommendations on the best sod type for your lawn. Would you be interested in scheduling a consultation?

Do you install sod rolls?

We do not install sod rolls on most residential properties. Sod rolls are installed along the roadside or on polo fields and golf courses.

How long will it take to DIY install sod?

If the ground is already prepared, the average homeowner can lay one 400 square foot pallet of sod in 45-90 minutes. It will take longer if the area is difficult to access or needs a lot of cuttings (i.e. curving around landscape beds, tree circles, etc.).

What is the difference between sand and muck sod?

Sand grown sod is grown on sandy soil, and muck sod is grown on organic soil near Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades and isn’t suited to our soil type. Plants thrive when they are planted in the same soil type they were grown in. Sand based sod is the best option for Florida’s sandy soil  as  the  sod  grows  a  deeper,  more  mature  root  system  and  requires  less  watering after the sod is established.

Can sod be installed when dormant?

Yes, dormant grass can be installed. The establishment period is longer since the grass isn't actively growing, but once the weather warms up, and with proper irrigation, treatment, and maintenance, the sod will thrive.
